Botany for the Curious How plants solve problems without moving.

Revisions and Corrections

Updated

This log lists the corrections made to published pages on Botany for the Curious. No corrections have been logged yet.

How a correction is recorded

Each correction appears in two places: in a Corrections section at the foot of the page that changed, and in this log. Every entry follows the same format:

YYYY-MM-DD — what changed (old value → new value), with a link to the source

Each entry in this log also links to the page it corrects. Entries are never deleted, so the earlier state of a page stays on record.

What gets an entry

A correction to a fact, a figure, a scientific name, a date or a source gets an entry. Pages are not changed silently: when a page is substantively revised, the revision date in its Cite this page box changes with it, so a citation shows which version it refers to.

Evolutionary trees are rechecked every 12 months, because classifications shift as new studies appear. When a recheck moves a group to a different place on a tree, the tree is redrawn and the change is logged here like any other correction.

Reporting an error

Send the page address, the statement in question and, where possible, a source to contact@botanyforthecurious.com. A report that the sources confirm leads to a correction listed here and on the page itself. The standards that corrections are measured against are set out on the Sources and Standards page.
